Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each. It is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s goal, which is accomplished primarily by kicking the ball. The team that scores the most goals by the end of the match wins.

Football is known by different names in various countries; for example, in the United States and Canada, it refers to a different sport (American football), while the sport most of the world refers to as football is called soccer in those countries. The game has a rich history and is governed by international organizations, the most prominent being FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association).

Key elements of football include dribbling, passing, shooting, and tactical organization. Matches usually consist of two halves, each lasting 45 minutes, with potential added time for stoppages. Football is one of the most widely played and followed sports globally, celebrated for its cultural significance, competitiveness, and community engagement. Its major tournaments, like the FIFA World Cup, attract millions of viewers and participants worldwide.
