Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, with the objective of scoring goals by getting a ball into the opposing team’s net. It is known for its global popularity and is governed by various international and national federations, with the most notable being FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association).

The game is primarily played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end. Players primarily use their feet to control and move the ball, although goalkeepers are allowed to use their hands within a designated area. Football can refer to different forms of the game depending on the region; for instance, in the United States and Canada, “football” typically refers to American football, while “soccer” is used to denote the sport known globally as football.

The objective is to score by placing the ball in the opponent’s goal, and matches are usually played over two halves of 45 minutes each. The sport promotes teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness and has significant cultural importance around the world, with major tournaments like the FIFA World Cup drawing millions of viewers.
